Today was a good day for me.
I had to go to the DMV to get some stuff straightened out. Which normally means, having a lousy day. I was so dreading this visit, that I postponed it by and entire day. I had told myself that I would go on Monday, but just couldn't do it.
There's an office about 1 minute from my apartment. However, this location is closed for renovation. So I chose to go to an office in Watsonville. This is about 40 miles from where I live (about halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey). I figured in a sleepy little farming community I might be able to save myself a couple of hours standing in line. Sure enough, the time it took me to renew my registration, get another license sent to me, and officially change my address (plus standing in line) took less time than the drive to the office. I can't tell you how happy it made me to walk out of there. It's like gearing up for a final exam in a class that you hate, and then having the teacher say, "write your name on the test and you get a "A" for the class."
THEN... when I got home I decided to concentrate on contacting some recruiters in the Seattle area. I was able to talk with two out of three, and pass along my resume.
THEN... an actual Microsoft recruiter sent me an e-mail regarding a specific job, asking for a telephone interview! This is miles down the road of getting hired at MS. Thanks must go out to my sister who is behind the scenes passing out my resume, and chatting me up to all the hiring managers.
THEN... UPS delivered to my door the new Beastie Boys CD, along with two Billy Joel CD's!
I then had a nice Ribeye steak for dinner, while watching the Giants annihilate the Reds.
Wow... what a great day!
