Why American's Fight. Today in the newspaper in the "rant" section, the following quote was printed:

"I am in my 50's. A long time ago I joined the military and was willing to fight or die for my country. Today, the majority of people and politicians aren't worth dying for."

Soldier's don't join the military to fight for a person, or people! They fight for ideals, and freedoms, and theoretical things.

They said that no politician is worth it, and they're probably right. I thought to myself, what person/people would I be willing to die for? The list was short, and very concentrated on my family. However, there are numerous, ideals, freedom's and liberties that I would die for.

I wouldn't die for the President. But I would die for the office of the presidency! For the idea that we as a people can elect people to represent us, in the White House, and in Congress! That we can voice our opinions without secret police showing up to drag us away in the night! That we can pursue life, liberty and happiness... these are the things that we Americans are willing to die for.
