War. I talked to my brother yesterday. He is being deployed to the middle-east next week. This will be his first actual duty assignment. He finished his intelligence training a couple of weeks ago, and reported to Fort Hood. The guy said he might as well not even unpack as the whole fort was being deployed. Hal (that's my bro) said that the place looked pretty much deserted on account of everyone being deployed. He got his official assignment on Friday. Destination: Classified. Length of Duty: Classified. Of course my mom is freaking out. And I'm sort of freaking out. So when I talked to him, I was asking him questions so that he could maintain the "classified" status, but so that I could figure out what the hell is going on. Here's my assumptions from the converstation:
1. He will be going to Turkey rather than Kuwait, or Saudi Arabia
2. He will be supporting an Armored Infantry unit (i.e. Tanks)
3. His intelligence lab will be set up in a mobile, armored, personell carrier.
4. His primary objective will be to secure some sort of oil field, or something related to oil.
5. If the whole plan goes right, he will not ever have to fire his weapon.
6. His risk of getting shot is low, but not completely ruled out.
If I have any sort of audience on this blog thing, I would ask you to please keep a prayer in your heart for my brother.
