Lord of the Rings: The 2 Towers. Okay, so a friend of mine is a huge LOTR fan, and he saw the movie the first day. He was telling me just a little bit about it... things like, "just forget that you ever read the book, because it has nothing to do with the book" and "What they did to Farimir was unforgivable". And I'm thinking to myself, this is typical of the hard-core fans, nothing's ever good enough...etc. etc. So I saw the movie for myself today. Ummmmm, yeah... he was right.
Very very loosely followed the book. Many things didn't follow the book at all, and others were right on. So I was thinking that I might give a harsh review of the movie for things like: The Ents weren't big enough, Gollum was marginal, etc. But then I came to the conclusion that the movie was great. It was very pleasing cinematically, the costumes are awesome, and the characters are likable, even if you haven't read the books. For a three hour movie it moves pretty well, there are a couple of spots that were really SLOW. But in general it was really good. One thing though, that I have to say... (I'm sorry, but it really really really bugs) What is up with hollywood and the "skateboard/surfer" thing that they have to do in all the movies... I mean seriously, would Legolas really use a shield like a skateboard to slide down the stairs while shooting arrows? I don't think so...
