Elkhorn Slough. Today I went kayaking in the Elkhorn Slough down by Monterey. It was pretty fun. I'm a little bit sore now from all the paddling, but not bad. We drove down and got there around 10:30 or so. Christine and Amanda were using Christine's boats, and I rented one. I rented from Kayak Connection . It was $30 for half a day. When I first got in, it felt really tipsy, like I was going to topple over at any second. Then after awhile I got used to it, and it actually felt pretty stable. So we paddled around for a few hours. Christine helped me with some paddling techniques. At around noon or so we sort of linked up and had some snacks. Then we paddled around some more. At one point they saw a jelly-fish. I was ahead of them and didn't feel like turning around and going back (paddling against the current, with sore arms, was clouding my judgement). We saw lots of cool birds, and a couple of sea otters, and one or two sea lions. I should have some decent photos to post soon.
